“Beloved children, it is with great anticipation that I await your news. It is unbearable for me to hear so little of you, as my thoughts are forever with you. Do write to me about everything, for every detail of your life fills my own. Judith, in particular, hasn’t written anything for two years. In fact, I cannot comprehend it and I fear the fault is at your end. (...) I repeat, do write about everything and I am already happy by the sheer thought of receiving news from you. I am as busy as ever and hope that I can say that my work for the klal is meaningful and useful. Granny Fischer keeps her spirits hihg and fresh; alas, her physical health is frail. (...)

Our life here is quite modest. I live with Granny in a single room on Klariská Street. There is no more theatre, cinema, café and such for us, yet I can at least venture out after 6PM. I have other remedies, too, which are unavailable to the remaining, wider family. It is most important for me, for my work is of the nature that any limitations faced by our wider relatives, would prove most insurmountable to me, as my work requires more overall freedom of movement and some travel.

Well, beloved children, do write about everything and by any means. Your news will reach me somehow (...).

Yours loving Gisi”
